چکیده

The equilibria of methane and carbon dioxide clathrate hydrates were measured in presence a pure-quartz porous sand, with without NaCl. Two different salt concentrations tested: 0.030 0.037 wt%. Results compared phase equilibrium data already present literature for these species. Despite salt, the medium was found to promote process, mainly increased surface/volume ratio improved heat transfer. In sand affected process differently as function temperature: at values higher than 3 – 5 °C, it promoted while lower this range, but still greater ice-point, acted an inhibitor. However, results can be considered true only temperatures above ice point. Due similarity water hydrates, Raman microscale measurements performed gather information about influence sediments, temperature on OH-stretching vibrations water. obtained allowed clarify how addition NaCl, or sediments liquid water, under conditions (15 °C −15 °C), influenced hydrogen bonds. Specifically, changes vibrations, when correlated NaCl concentrations, demonstrated that partially inhibited effects probably due hydrophilic interactions silanol groups sediments. SEM showed morphological experimental conditions.

Kinetics of the Formation and Dissociation of Gas Hydrates from CO2-CH4 Mixtures

Sequestration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the form of its hydrates in natural methane (CH4) hydrate reservoirs, via CO2/CH4 exchange, is an attractive pathway that also yields valuable CH4 gas as product. In this paper, we describe a macroscale experiment to form CO2 and CH4-CO2 hydrates, under seafloor-mimic conditions, in a vessel fitted with glass windows that provides visualization of hydrat...

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water

abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...

A Review on Research on Replacement of CH4 in Natural Gas Hydrates by Use of CO2

This paper introduces the research advances on replacement of CH4 in Natural Gas Hydrates (NGHs) by use of CO2 and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the method on the natural gas production from such hydrates. Firstly, the feasibility of replacement is proven from the points of view of kinetics and thermodynamics, and confirmed by experiments. Then, the latest progress in CH4 replac...
